De afkorting CAFS staat voor: Compressed Air Foam System.
Wat betekent Compressed Air Foam System?
Hittebestendig schuim gebruikt als blusstof. Aan water wordt een lage dosering schuimvormend middel toegevoegd waardoor een premix ontstaat. Onder druk wordt aan deze premix lucht toegevoegd, hierdoor ontstaat het hittebestendige schuim. De afdekkende schuimlaag voorkomt dat zuurstof aan de brand blijft worden toegevoegd.
